Dragged from his car and shot more than 20 times as he returned from a July 29 interview south of Kabul with Prime Minister Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. Also a photographer, he had reported for the BBC’s Pashto and Persian-language service on fighting between two Islamic rebel factions. Each group blamed the other for his murder.
