Shot twice in San Salvador on Nov. 17 as he and a group of colleagues walked through a crossroads while covering fighting between government troops and rebels. It is not clear whether he was targeted or who was responsible. He was writing for the now-defunct Sunday Correspondent of London at the time of his death.
