Died in a March 24 plane crash that also killed famed Army Gen. Orde Wingate and correspondent Stanley Wills. Emeny, 40, covered the Italian invasion of Abyssinia and later reported from Palestine before being assigned to cover Wingate's jungle command. Wingate pulled together British and Indian army units that became known for fighting the Japanese.
