Independent Group Visits

Independent groups that purchase 10 or more tickets are eligible for discounted admission and require advance reservations. If your church, family, scout or other group would like to purchase tickets, please contact the Group Tours Hotline at 202/292-6690 or write to groupsales@newseum.org, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. ET.

All group reservations must be made at least one week in advance to qualify for the discounted rate and will require pre-payment. Accepted forms of payment include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, corporate check or money order. The Newseum will NOT accept purchase orders as a form of payment. All ticket sales are final. There are no refunds for no-shows or unused tickets.

School Field Trips

Reservations

To submit a field trip reservation request, please download and complete the appropriate form on this page. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance to qualify for discounted rates and will require pre-payment. Accepted forms of payment include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, corporate check or money order. The Newseum will NOT accept purchase orders as a form of payment.

Final student/chaperone counts are due one week prior to the field trip. If we do not receive a call or email confirmation, an Education Department employee will call to confirm the trip. If we do not receive confirmation within a week, your field trip may be canceled.

All ticket sales are final. If you need to reschedule or cancel your field trip, please contact the Education Department at 202/292-6650 OR write to educationprograms@newseum.org before the date of your scheduled trip. There are no refunds for no shows or unused tickets.

Inclement Weather

If you cannot make your scheduled field trip due to inclement weather, please notify the Education Department or educationprograms@newseum.org by 8 a.m. the day of your scheduled visit. Please leave your name, reservation number, and a message that you need to reschedule your field trip. An education team member will be in contact with you to reschedule.

If the Newseum does not receive a voice mail or email by 8 a.m. ET, we will assume you are keeping your scheduled field trip. See below for the Newseum’s inclement weather policy.

Arrival

Please enter through the Group Entrance on C Street. Your tickets will be held for you at the group admissions desk. Bus staging occurs on 6th Street; loading and unloading is allowed ONLY on C Street. The Newseum does not provide bus parking.

Note: Due to construction on C St., the group entrance will not be accessible for groups beginning June 1, 2016. Please plan your entry through the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance.

Food and Beverage

Outside food and beverage may not be consumed in the Newseum Food Section or in the galleries. There is also no storage for student lunches. Learn about dining options at the Newseum.

Inclement Weather Policy

Weekdays: During inclement weather, the Newseum follows the federal government’s decision regarding weekday business hours. Please check our website for all updated news on weather-related openings, closings or delays.

Weekends: In case of snow or other potentially hazardous weather or emergency situations, a decision may be made to close the Newseum. These decisions are made after consulting the National Weather Service and Newseum personnel. Please call the Building Operations Center (BOC) at 202/292-6666 after 7 a.m. ET to verify if the Newseum is open for the day.
