In January 1999, Associated Press correspondent Ian Stewart is seriously wounded covering fighting in Sierra Leone. He's traveling in a government-escorted convoy in Freetown when a rebel soldier fires on his vehicle. AP colleague Myles Tierney is killed -- Stewart survives. His war reporting includes Afghanistan, Cambodia and Pakistan.
