Walter Cronkite is a war correspondent for United Press during World War II. He covers the Normandy invasion, the Battle of the Bulge and the Nuremberg trials. Joining CBS in 1950, Cronkite anchors the evening news from 1962-81. His 1968 editorial advocating a negotiated settlement in Vietnam is a milestone in American journalism.
