Nellie Bly was a pioneer for women in journalism and an influential investigative journalist.

On Nov. 14, 1889, Nellie Bly, one of the world’s first female reporters, embarked on an ambitious mission to circle the globe in less time than Phileas Fogg, the hero of Jules Verne’s novel, “Around the World in Eighty Days.”

Riding ships, trains and horses, Bly completed the voyage in 72 days, cementing her legacy as one of the most famous journalists of her era.

Now you too can travel around the world like Nellie in “Nellie Bly: The Virtual Reality Experience.”

In partnership with Vive Studios and Immersion, this experience follows Bly as she embarks upon and completes her extraordinary journey around the world. Turn back the clock to Nov. 14, 1889 and join Nellie Bly on her groundbreaking adventure.

The Newseum has also collaborated with Vive Studios to create other interactive virtual reality experiences, including immersive segments that educate the public about the Unabomber investigation as well as the Berlin Wall.
