Inside Media: The History of ‘The Daily Show’ @ Knight TV Studio

Chris Smith talks about his book, “The Daily Show (The Book): An Oral History as Told by Jon Stewart, the Correspondents, Staff and Guests.”

This oral history takes readers behind the curtain for all the show’s highlights, from its origins as Comedy Central’s underdog late-night program to Trevor Noah’s succession.

The show’s behind-the-scenes gags, controversies and camaraderie is chronicled by the players themselves, from Stewart to the star cast members and writers including Samantha Bee, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver and Steve Carell.

In June, the Newseum opened the exhibit, “Seriously Funny: From the Desk of ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,’” which explores the impact of the late-night satirical news show on politics and the press.

A book signing will follow the program.
