The Center for Democracy & Technology, in partnership with the Freedom Forum Institute, Charles Koch Institute, and WAMU’s “1A,” will host the Future of Speech Online. The one-day symposium will address today’s most pressing issues around free speech and communities online.
At their best, online communities create new connections, break down barriers and lift up their members. But some online communities also drive polarization, spread false news or coordinate harassment. How do these different communities develop and evolve — and how do they fit into the larger landscape of online speech?
The event will bring together policymakers, media, academics, corporations, advocates and thought leaders to address issues such as filter bubbles, disinformation, user empowerment and media literacy. We hope you can join us!
